Watching the John Ward tribute between calls, emails and meetings. I have to keep stopping because those passing my office won’t understand a tear in my eye or the big smile on my face as I see the old highlights and listen to the tribute. Can’t take any more so I’m pausing at 40 min and looking forward to more. There have been few public figures that actually ‘hurt my heart’ with their passing; Ronald Reagan, John Wayne, and now John Ward. A greatness has passed out of this world and we’re both better for having experienced that greatness and worse for having lost it. My Dad and I used to sit and listen to the games and he loved the Vols and adored John. I lost Dad on election night in 2016 and now I’ve lost someone that tied me to him.
