If you read only one thing about the Vols today . . .
. . . make it this, from WNML’s Jimmy Hyams:
Other Vols stuff worth reading today
- Ohio St. places Meyer on administrative leave, via ESPN. The nutshell: Evidence is mounting that Meyer either had or should have had knowledge of a serious situation and did mostly nothing about it. The reason this is included in a list of Vols-related items is that Ohio State did not name defensive coordinator Greg Schiano as interim head coach. The national media that was so appalled at Tennessee last fall for also passing over Schiano seems perfectly fine with the decision this time around by the Buckeyes, probably because the Ohio State administration did not require the counsel of its fan base.

The piece by David Ubben on Pruitt today is behind The Athletic’s paywall, but it’s great: https://t.co/N3DXmLjQp5
Also, the Hyams piece has too much anxiety for a coach who is 0-0. The year three benchmarks are too specific – who knows how good anyone is going to be in 2020, or what a win over, say, South Carolina might or might not be worth then?
I’ve loved everything I’ve read behind the paywall at The Athletic, including all of Ubben’s work. Definitely worth the subscription.
That Ubben piece is part 5 of what has been an excellent series. I held off on subscribing to The Athletic for a while – despite their amassing the most impressive group of writers on the internet today (not counting GDoRT, of course) – but pulled the trigger yesterday when I saw a deal for 50% off the first year (so $2.50 per month). I have been impressed so far. I’ll decide early next August whether it will be worth $60 per year to renew. Anyway, the Ubben series on Pruitt is great. I still don’t know if he will… Read more »
