The GRT Community Twitter List
Until I am convinced that too much Twitter on Gameday is no longer detrimental to your emotional well-being, I am going to continue to look for ways to foster healthy online conversation about the Vols during games. Last week, I poked my head into the Twitter party, didn’t like what I saw, and came back here. It’s a smaller group, sure, but I much prefer a gathering of friends than runaway groupthink headed for the ledge.
I’m still looking for the absolute best way to enable that, though, so for now we’ll be running the game thread here (our own community), and alongside it we’ll be adding a Twitter list especially curated for the purpose of supplementing that conversation with outside stuff, but only if that outside stuff actually adds value to the in-game conversation.
Hopefully, adding only the best from Twitter to our own conversation here will help us build an active and healthy in-game experience.
Go Vols!
Seeing kansas state against wvu before our game makes me feel 2-3% better
Yeah, they look good.
Bituli missed a tackle worth 8+ yards on the first play.
SACK! Good sign.
Third and long. Would love a stop to begin the game.
Got the stop, thanks to a penalty. Thanks to the crowd.
Really bad field position for our first drive.
Big third down conversion on first possession for the good guys. Woo.
Didn’t see that wicked hit on Guarantano on the first look. I don’t know whether they’ll call it targeting, but man what a hit. Glad he’s okay.
Now that I think about it, can they review targeting if it wasn’t called on the field?
Twitter’s ahead of the TV and says the call is no targeting.
And now a third and long. Seven.
Two extra guys come around the blind side, knock it loose, and it’s intercepted or the fumble is caught in mid air. Good field position for the Gators.
They scored. It’s on the left side of the line.
Trey Smith with a personal foul penalty, half the distance to the goal, Guarantano throws a pick on an attempted screen. Florida gets the ball near the goal line again.
Can’t block. That’s real trouble.
I’m not an expert, but both of those last two passes looked like interference.
Agree. Commentators say no, but you can’t have your hands on him, right?
It seemed like in both of those, UF players either hit or grabbed the arms of the player before the ball got to them. I know PI is a judgment call, but I was surprised that both of those went the other way.
BIG HIT leads to fumble, First down Tennessee!
Perfect execution by Alontae Taylor.
Bad news: Terrible turnovers turn into shirt field position for the Gators and a quick 14 points. Worse news: O-line is having REAL trouble blocking and not committing stupid penalties again.
Better news: The first quarter has been our worst quarter all year. Maybe it gets better.
There was almost no downside of that onside attempt — until they punted it and downed it inside the five. Dangerous spot for us down there with the way the line has blocked most of the game so far.
Ahem.
By the way, stay off of Twitter if you don’t want spoilers.
Will Ignont is going to get a personal foul this game. He’s been close twice already.
No rush, long pass play, terrible angles, no speed, touchdown, Gators.
This is going to be a loooooonnnnnngggg season! Go Vols… lets get it together.
We are getting blown up at the LOS.
What else?
That stat makes it look like Tennessee is doing better than they are. But really Florida just hasn’t had a lot of opportunities to play offense because we’ve given it up so quickly.
Another two mistakes undo some positives on a drive. Gators recover fumble from low snap.
